Rev. Dr. Smith-Horn was born in Baltimore, Maryland. She attended Baltimore City public schools and graduated from Forest Park High School.  She earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Early Childhood Education from Coppin State College (Now University), and a Master of Science Degree in Guidance and Counseling from Johns Hopkins University and taught in the Baltimore City school system.

Upon receiving and accepting her call to the ministry she earned a Master of Divinity Degree from the Theological School at Drew University and was ordained in the United Methodist Church.  She also earned a Doctorate Degree in Sacred Theology from the Family Bible Ministries College and Seminary.

Rev. Dr. Smith-Horn has the distinction of having served as the first woman pastor at Mount Gregory/Saint Luke/White Rock (Charge) United Methodist Churches, Metropolitan United Methodist Church in Severn, Maryland, and Christ United Methodist Church in East Baltimore.  She retired as pastor of John Wesley United Methodist Church in West Baltimore in 2017 after 31 years of pastoral service.
Rev. Dr. Smith-Horn is a past recipient of the Fannie Lou Hamer outstanding leadership award and the NAACP Rosa Parks award for Dynamic Women in the Pulpit.

Rev. Dr. Smith-Horn is the daughter of Dr. Louise Blount Smith a retired principal in the Baltimore City school system and the late Rev Dr. James Smith who served many years in the Baltimore Washington Conference before retiring.
She is married to Rev. Norman Horn who was ordained in the African Methodist Episcopal Church.





Our three Lay Servants are here to serve St. Luke's. They serve in any way that their witness, leadership and service inspires them to grow in deeper commitment to Christ and to more effective discipleship. This includes the interpretation of scriptures, doctrine, organization, and ministries of the church.
